On June 1st, 2013, Dr. E. Scott Conner passed away peacefully in his sleep, after having a perfect day with his wife Maryann.

Born to Edison and Louise Conner on April 17th, 1951 in New Kensington, PA, Dr. E. Scott Conner dedicated his life to his family, his friends, and his work. A graduate of Phillips Exeter Academy, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Harvard Medical School, he first came to California for his surgical internship at the University of California, San Diego. Dr. Conner completed his residency in Neurosurgery at Massachusetts General Hospital, where he was Chief Resident. It was there that he met his wife to be, Maryann, who was a nurse on the neurosurgical service. In 1984, they moved to Menlo Park, CA, where Dr. Conner joined the neurosurgical staff at the nearby Kaiser Permanente Medical Center. Three years later, he co-founded Neurosurgical Associates of Santa Barbara with his longtime friend Dr. Thomas H. Jones. For 26 years, he devoted himself tirelessly to the well-being of his patients at Cottage Hospital.

Scott is remembered for his generosity, kindness, and boundless curiosity. A true Renaissance man, he loved reading poetry, studying history, bicycling, and actively exploring California’s natural beauty. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Maryann, and three wonderful children, Edison, Andrew, and Amy, who endeavor to live out his legacy of joy and service. He is also survived by his dear sister Jane, his devoted aunt AnnaMae, and a large and loving extended family.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the National Kidney Foundation or National MS Society in his name. A private memorial service will be held for family members, but all are highly encouraged to visit his memorial website HERE to share thoughts, stories, and photos of Dr. Conner for his family and others to cherish.
