Michael Candy

Michael was born in Santa Monica, CA. He graduated from The Catalina Island Boys School; moved to Santa Barbara in 1973 where he attended UCSB and SBCC, earning his degree in Marine Technology. The ocean was his passion and for many years he was an abalone and sea urchin diver and avid fisherman.

Michael was a very special person to all that had the opportunity to meet him. His big blue eyes, sense of humor, kindness, strength, caring for others and big heart will be missed by all.

Michael was the best father, brother and son, and is survived by his three sons, which he loved, cherished and was so proud of: Cooper, Bryce and Trae; he is also survived by his father Walter W. Candy, his mother, Joan M. Candy, and his sisters Linda and Katie Candy.

A fisherman’s memorial for family and friends will take placeon October 30, 2015, at 11:00am at the Santa Barbara Harbor, where family and friends will gather to release his ashes, as he requested, into the sea, which he loved so much.

Michael had a 3 year battle with stage 4 pancreatice cancer. Our heartfelt thanks go to: The Visiting Nurse and Hospice Care, Solvang office, for their loving care.

In lieu of flowers he would want any donations to go to: Childrens Cancer Fund www.childrenscancer.com
