Mark was born July 21, 1959 in Kansas City, Missouri. At the age of two the family moved to Santa Barbara where he attended Monroe Elementary and La Cumbre Junior High. As a Don, Mark (number 23) played football for SBHS, Class of 77.

Together with his brothers, he experienced fun times in the Cub Scouts, Webelos and Boy Scouts Troop 15 on the Mesa. After high school Mark joined the US Marine Corp. He proudly served 3 years as Lance Corporal. He told many a story/tall tale from his treasured experience in the service. He was proud to serve his country as a Marine.
Mark loved to entertain and make people laugh. He always had a story to tell or a joke to share. A well-known bouncer at Joe’s Café, he was gregarious by nature, making friends easily.

Mark loved to cook. He’s known for a mean cup of chili, a camp fire chicken and dumplings and tamales. He was featured in Santa Barbara News Press for his traditional meals at the holidays. He will be missed by everyone who knew him.

Mark is survived by his mother, Annie Franz and siblings Anna Marie Ravenscroft, Millie Ravenscroft, Bruce (Gayle) Ravenscroft, Jr. and Arthur (Gina) Ravenscroft, many nephews and nieces, grand nephews and nieces whom he loved dearly. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Raquel and Rudolph I. Hernandez, grandparents William B and Mildred Ravenscroft, his father Bruce Eric Ravenscroft and wife Chere Barnhardt.

Memorial services will be held in the Santa Barbara Cemetery Chapel on June 14 at 10 am. There will be a family and friends pot luck at Oak Park following the service. In lieu of flowers please donate to your favorite charity
in Mark’s name.
