A photo of the newly discovered galaxy – currently dubbed SDSSJ0737+3216 after its celestial coordinates – shows the bright elliptical lens galaxy and its Einstein ring. The insets are a zoomed-in view, before (left) and after subtraction of the bright foreground galaxy, leaving the tiny background object ready for analysis by UCSB researchers Phil Marshall and Tommaso Treu.
