ONE LAST TRY: Development and land-use codes for coastal parcels, like the idyllic agricultural slice of the Gaviota pictured above, remain in the forefront as the County Supervisors and California Coastal Commission continue to haggle over Santa Barbara’s attempts to update its various land-use policies. On the brink of rejecting the state agencies requests, the county voted this week to explore — for the final time — the possibility of compromise.
