SEA OF PROBLEMS: Though there are way more than the 50 otters discovered at Big Sur in 1938 when everyone thought they were extinct, the species is struggling against a growing number of odd diseases and a surge in shark attacks. Many also believe they have reached carrying capacity in certain areas.
