This is one of those selections that says almost as much about the town as its honoree. Past recipients have included Taco Bell and that other chain made notorious by its protest of State Street art installations. But this year the town voted in an old-fashioned healthy food franchise, and the Natural Café does indeed offer organic and nutritious fare (i.e., Mr. Veggie Burger) at less than $10. A quick review of the menu reveals the Mount Fuji Stir Fry, their most spendy item, at a mere $9.95. So congratulations, Santa Barbara. For your healthy taste, you like to save money and avoid super sizing your cholesterol.
