This 4th of July, the Santa Barbara Police Department made six felony arrests, 18 misdemeanor arrests, and five DUI arrests. It issued 28 traffic citations, 283 parking citations, and doled out 103 tickets for municipal code and other miscellaneous infractions.

Last year, the police made six felony arrests, 20 misdemeanor arrests, and three DUI arrests. They issued 33 traffic citations, 44 parking citations, and wrote 68 tickets for municipal code and other miscellaneous infractions.

“The reason for the spike in parking citations was that this year we had our parking enforcement officers working 4th of July assignments and their regular beats,” explained department spokesperson Sergeant Lorenzo Duarte.
