Most of these are not accidents.
The incidents are usually drunk homeless people or suicides.
Either way, the train is delayed and everyone else is affected.

I don't understand why these no trespassing laws even exist in the first place. They are rarely, if ever, enforced. There is no reason a person should not be able to cross train tracks. The article on the topic said that at a specific crossing, they expected 100,000 - 200,000 crossings per year. That's just one spot. That means there are millions and millions of safe crossings without episode.

How about no loitering on the tracks?

Walking a safe distance from the tracks, along the tracks, should be legal and safely crossing them should be legal.

How about common sense? And if they put more "no parking" signs along the beaches we will have a lot less incumbents come next election time.

We have lots of feelgood laws that aren't or are rarely enforced. Noisy leafblowers. Handsfree cellphones. Jaywalking. Feel free to add to the list.

Trains don't kill people; people not paying attention while crossing railroad tracks do.
