Santa Barbara Studio Artists to Support Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital Healing Arts Program
Santa Barbara, California, August 12, 2014 – This year the Santa Barbara Studio Artists are helping Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital in its effort to provide beautiful art to help promote patient healing. A portion of proceeds from ticket sales for the 13th Annual Santa Barbara Studio Artists Open Studios Tour will be donated to the Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital Healing Arts Program.

“We applaud Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital for including the healing power of art in its efforts to provide the highest quality of patient care in our community,” said Fran Scorzelli, Santa Barbara Studio Artists Board President. “We are pleased to create an opportunity for art collectors and enthusiasts to support this special program.”

Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital explains that a growing body of research has focused on the relationship between patient healing and artistic expression. Art inspires, comforts and facilitates healing. Over the years, arts programs have been used to help a vast array of health conditions from post-traumatic stress disorder to neurological disorders to brain injuries.

In addition, the Santa Barbara Studio Artists are holding a raffle for two beautiful paintings, Kathleen Elsey’s “East Beach” and Kristen Hawkes’ “The Barn.” Tickets are available for $5 each or three for $10 and a portion of the proceeds will also be donated to the Healing Arts Program. The drawing will be held at 3 p.m. on August 24th at the Corridan Gallery. You do not need to be present to win, and the first ticket drawn will get first choice of the artwork. Raffle tickets are available for purchase through 3 p.m. August 24 online or by visiting the Corridan Gallery, 125 N. Milpas St., Santa Barbara.
