The 5th National Corvette Caravan will take place the last week of August, 2014. Regional caravans will form and join other caravans as they travel across the United States to gather in Bowling Green, Kentucky for four days of festivities at the National Corvette Museum.
On Thursday August 21, 2014 Bunnin Chevrolet Cadillac at 301 S. Hope Avenue, Santa Barbara, will host a BBQ sendoff for the Santa Barbara and points north participants and friends at 11:00 am. All the participants will have their Corvettes lined up at the front lot here at the dealership. There will be approximately 20 to 25 Corvettes.
The Southern California/Southern Nevada Caravan Organizing Team, which plans, organizes and operates the Section of the National Corvette Caravan which draws from Southern California, Southern Nevada, and Southwestern Utah, has been working on its part of the 2014 National Corvette Caravan since December of 2010.
Hib Halverson of Goleta is Section Captain for the 2014 Caravan. This will be Halverson’s third time serving as Captain for the SCSN Section of the National Corvette Caravan, one of the larger Caravan Sections in the country. Halverson owns a ‘71 Big-Block Coupe, a ‘95 ZR-1, an ‘04 Z06/Z16 and a ‘12 Z06/Z07. He is a member of Corvette Club Santa Barbara.
They come from miles around. All generations of Corvettes are represented, traveling from every continental United State and even a few foreign countries to gather in the Home of the Corvette.
2014 will bring the 5th National Corvette Caravan and will mark the 20th Anniversary of the National Corvette Museum. Leading the spectacle is Paul Mariano of Huntersville, NC, a 20-year Museum member who is not only a lifetime member of the Museum but also a founding member.
