Calling all budding cinéastes and film lovers! Make an original short silent film and enter it in UCSB Arts & Lectures’ DIY Silent Film Contest for a chance to win prizes and glory.
Grand prize is two sets of tickets to a UCSB Arts & Lectures series package of your choice in the upcoming 2014-2015 season. (Some exclusions may apply.) In addition, the grand prize winner’s film will be given a public screening on Wed., Aug. 20 and Fri., Aug. 22 before the Modern Times screenings at UCSB Campbell Hall and the Santa Barbara County Courthouse Sunken Garden, as part of the free summer film series, Chaplin, Keaton, Lloyd: Comedy Classics of the Silent Era.
The DIY Silent Film Contest is open to the public. People of all ages and abilities are encouraged to submit an entry, and there is no fee to enter. Running time should not exceed 3 minutes, and the film should be your original creation, with family-friendly content. (Think fun, PG-rated material!) Since this is a silent film contest, there should be no spoken dialogue.
Entries must be received by Mon., Aug. 11. The winner will be announced on Tues., Aug. 19 at 10 a.m. on UCSB Arts & Lectures’ Facebook page (www.facebook.com/artsandlectures).
