Jill’s Place has been closed since a fire ravaged it in May of 2013. But disappointed diners are in luck – Jill’s Place has reopened and it’s better than ever!
After the fire gutted her restaurant, Jill’s Place owner and local Jill Shalhoob took the opportunity to make her beloved Santa Barbara institution even better. The restaurant interior has received a major update. The ‘back of house’ is completely brand new, with all new cooking equipment. In addition to the fresh face, the classic Jill’s Place menu returns with some tasty new additions.
“My father Jerry Shalhoob founded the original Shalhoob Meat Company in 1973 where my restaurant stands now,” said Jill, known around town as “The Butcher’s Daughter.” “This community has been important to our family for four generations. We’ve missed our friends at Jill’s Place and are so glad to be back serving the same quality food and genuine drink in our updated space. Please come out and see us again soon!”
The renovated restaurant is back open Monday through Saturday at its original location: 632 Santa Barbara Street, Santa Barbara, CA 93101.
Located at the home of her father’s original Shalhoob Meat Co. (a supplier of quality meats for over 35 years), Jill’s Place opened in 1987 as Shalhoob Deli & Catering. The place began serving deli style lunches and evolved into a catering business specializing in the Shalhoob family’s grilled meats. After 15 years, the business expanded once more into Jill’s Place, a full-service restaurant and neighborhood hot spot. Known for great steaks, chops, chicken, fresh fish and burgers, the local favorite also serves up excellent cocktails and its lunch menu has remained a hit with area workers.
Celebrated for consistency, quality and fun, Jill’s Place has served up quality food and genuine drink to the Santa Barbara community for over 25 years.
