66th Annual Starr King Rummage Sale moves to Earl Warren Show Grounds

After 65 years long running Santa Barbara event changes location.

(Santa Barbara, CA. September 2014) The annual Starr King-Parent Child Workshop Rummage Sale will be moving to Earl Warren Show grounds. The event is scheduled for one day only, Saturday October 18th, from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm.

After 65 years this highly anticipated Santa Barbara community event will be moving locations to the more spacious Warren Hall at the Santa Barbara Earl Warren Show Grounds. Traditionally the Starr King Rummage sale is held for two consecutive days, however, this year the event will only be for one day. Doors will open early at 7:00 am, and it is recommended to arrive early. Earl Warren Show Grounds offers convenient free parking.

The Starr King Rummage Sale is a beloved community event that many people wait for all year, and the proceeds from the event provide much of the operating expenses for the cooperative preschool. Starr King is very grateful to the Unitarian Society for hosting this annual event for so many years.

Nicole Erickson the Rummage co-chair for 2014 explains, “We are excited to be holding the Rummage Sale at the Earl Warren Show Grounds. We are confident that the new central location and easy parking will make the sale more accessible to the community.”

“The Rummage Sale is so much more than a fundraiser,” says Yolanda Medina-Garcia, director of Starr King. “The rummage sale is educational for both the parents and children of Starr King. Children get the opportunity to see their parents work together towards a common goal while creating life long friendships. They learn about the importance of recycling, reusing, teamwork and community.”

Starr King will be accepting donations of quality rummage on October 14 and 15 from 4-7pm at Earl Warren Show Grounds. Once there follow the signs, there will be plenty of people to help unload your car. All donations are tax deductible. For pick-up of large items, call 966-1325.
