Dear President Napolitano and Dr. Stobo:

As West African nations experience the largest Ebola outbreak in history, it is imperative that California is prepared to respond to any possible cases that may emerge within the state. For this reason, I am pleased that the University of California’s Medical Centers have declared that they are prepared to safely treat potential Ebola patients.

I and other Californians appreciate your leadership in addressing threats to the public’s health. You have my faith and trust in your efforts to address this public health threat. I would like to offer any assistance should you need a liaison to federal public health, homeland security, or other agencies as part of your preparations and your efforts to protect the safety of courageous health care workers and the community.

Knowing that there are hospitals ready and willing to treat Ebola is a great relief to the public. Thank you again for your leadership. If I can be of assistance, please do not hesitate to contact Tom Bohigian, my State Director, at (559) 497-5109.

Sincerely,

Barbara Boxer
United States Senator
