National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week

Today Santa Barbara Mayor Helene Schneider recognized the efforts of public safety dispatchers by proclaiming the week of April 12-18, 2015 National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week.
The Santa Barbara Police Department’s Combined Communication Center’s 16 public safety dispatchers receive over 167,000 telephone calls each year for the city’s Police and Fire Departments, and dispatch and coordinate the responses of the city’s police officers, firefighters, and animal control officers. Last year they handled 55,459 emergencies and provided emergency medical instructions and information to over 750 callers.
Please join us this week in honoring these men and women whose diligence and professionalism keep our city and citizens safe.
