Close of Registration for the Carpinteria-Summerland Fire Protection District Election

Registrar of Voters Joe Holland announced today that the deadline to register to vote for the May 5, 2015, Special Mail Ballot Election for the Carpinteria-Summerland Fire Protection District is Monday, April 20, 2015. If a voter has moved or changed their name, they must re-register.

Voters can register using the California Online Voter Registration (COVR) system, which obtains the registrant’s signature on file at the Department of Motor Vehicles. If the COVR system is unable to retrieve an electronic signature from the DMV the registrant will be prompted to print, sign and mail the Voter Registration Application immediately. All COVR applications that are submitted by midnight on April 20, 2015, will be date and time stamped whether an electronic signature is obtained or the registrant must submit their signed application by mail. The COVR application is available at http://RegisterToVote.ca.gov/

Voters can register in person at the County Registrar of Voters Offices located at:

Santa Barbara: 4440-A Calle Real (corner of Calle Real and Honor Farm Rd), Hours: Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Santa Maria: 511 E. Lakeside Parkway, Suite 115, Hours: Monday – Friday – 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Lompoc: 401 E. Cypress, Rm 102, Hours: Monday, Wednesday and Friday – 9:00 a.m. to Noon and 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Local Post Offices and the Department of Motor Vehicles Offices also have voter registration forms available. Voter registration forms postmarked by April 20, 2015 will be accepted for this election.

Registered voters of the Carpinteria-Summerland Fire Protection District have already been mailed ballots for the election; however, if an eligible voter of the district registers by the deadline, a ballot will be mailed to them no later than April 27, 2015. Voted ballots must be received in the Santa Barbara Elections Office by 8:00 p.m. on Election Day, May 5, 2015. Voters are encouraged to return their ballot by mail or in person to be received in our office by May 5, 2015. Mailed ballot return envelopes that are signed, dated and postmarked on or before Election Day, May 5, 2015 and received by the Elections Office, by Friday, May 9, 2015 will be accepted.
