Carpinteria Sea Glass Festival Chocolate

Carpinteria, CAIn just two weeks, Carpinteria will kick off it’s very first Sea Glass Festival and
now the event has it’s own chocolate to celebrate the occasion! Carpinteriabased Chocolats du
CaliBressan custom designed the sweet treat decorated with palm trees and sea shells. “Being
that it is going to be the Sea Glass Festival it was decided that the chocolate had to have, yes
Sea Salt,” says owner Jean Michel Carré, the French Chocolatier of the American Riviera. “The
theme of course had to be beachy and so voila, the design was easy! It is a dark chocolate and
caramel ganache with sea salt in a dark chocolate shell.”
The first annual Sea Glass Festival runs August 29th and 30th on Carpinteria’s Linden
Avenue. Sea glass (also referred to as Mermaid’s Tears) is broken glass that somehow found its
way into the sea and later washed up on the beach after years or even decades. Collecting it is
growing as a hobby, and sea glass festivals are cropping up all over the country. It’s a chance
for local business to get the attention of visitors and residents alike. “The Sea Glass Festival is
important for our small beach community, many people who either know Carpinteria or will
experience it for the first time,” says Carré. “This is important to all businesses in Carpinteria.”
Chocolats du CaliBressan says the decision to make a Sea Glass Festival chocolate
was easy,”It’s important for us to be part of the community that helped us launch our business
back in 2007,” says Carré. Chocolats du CaliBressan, The French Chocolatier of the American
Riviera, has stores in Carpinteria and Santa Barbara. True French Chocolatier Jean Michel
Carré and his wife JillMarie have earned worldwide accolades in magazines, brochures and
traveling guides including Rick Steves. Jean Michel is the best in the chocolate business,
originally from France he was trained at the top cooking schools in France.
