Today, 7/11/15—Santa Barbara County Officials Launch New Clean Air Express Saturday Service Connecting Santa Ynez Valley and Santa Barbara

Immediately after the ribbon cutting ceremony, the bus departed Buellton on its first Saturday trip at 9:30 a.m. with 13 lucky passengers aboard. Passengers on the launch day rode the route for free throughout the day. The regular fare is $7.00 per person each way (buy at boarding) or a booklet of 10 passes is $50 in advance. Children age two years & under ride free.

CAPTION: The new Clean Air Express Saturday bus made its second stop at Solvang Park at Mission Drive & First Street where Solvang Mayor Jim Richardson, Santa Barbara County First District Supervisor Salud Carbajal and Solvang Visitors Bureau staff welcomed boarding passengers with a banner. Then, the bus travelled down scenic Highway 154 (San Marcos Pass Road) to Santa Barbara with stops at La Cumbre Plaza; Mid-town, Paseo Nuevo and the Beach Area/Funk Zone/Train Station—where Solvang Visitor Bureau staff welcomed more passengers (pictured); then arrived back in the Santa Ynez Valley with stops in Solvang, Buellton and Los Olivos. A second round trip operates in the afternoon from Los Olivos, Buellton, Solvang, and Santa Barbara with a return to Solvang and Buellton. For the first time, this new Clean Air Express Saturday public bus service allows anyone in Santa Barbara to travel to Buellton, Solvang and Los Olivos for the day—and anyone in Buellton and Solvang to travel to Santa Barbara for the day.
