Alberto Battaglini, Mixologist at S.Y. Kitchen in Santa Ynez, California
Alberto Battaglini, the acclaimed mixologist at S.Y. Kitchen, presents four bourbon-centric cocktails for August inspired by the season’s local market produce and botanicals. In addition to the restaurant’s list of specialty drinks, Battaglini offers these dazzling new cocktails featuring America’s own distilled whiskeys – The Rancher, Blueberry Field, Life is Peachy and The Chronicle. All new cocktails with premium bourbons are priced at $14.
“I created these bourbon drinks for August because it’s the hottest month of the year,” states Battaglini. “Most people don’t think of bourbon for summer months but it’s actually an extremely versatile spirit.” The Chronicle cocktail is one of his favorites because the drink makes use of his proprietary O.F.T. that you’ll see among his tinctures and botanicals at the bar – Old Fashioned Therapy is Battaglini’s house made bitters tailored “to reach every corner of the mouth.”
A native of Verona and school chum of Chef Luca Crestanelli, Alberto Battaglini learned the fundamentals of cooking and food service at Scuola Alberghiera in Italy. His unbridled passion for spirits took him to London where he met his mentor, Ian Slater. Following work in Spain and Mexico, Alberto settled in the Santa Ynez Valley to lead the bar program at S.Y. Kitchen. At S.Y. Kitchen, Battaglini’s hand-crafted drinks are a stunning complement to the cuisine of Chef Crestanelli.
