Santa Barbara, June 25, 2015: The Santa Barbara Local Agency Formation Commission (SBLAFCO) has a pending vacancy for the Alternate Public Member on the Commission. LAFCos are responsible for coordinating logical and timely changes in local government boundaries, conducting special studies that review ways to reorganize, simplify, and streamline government structure, and preparing a sphere of influence for each city and special district within each county. The Commission’s efforts are directed towards seeing that services are provided efficiently and economically while agricultural and open-space lands are protected. To better inform itself and the community as it seeks to exercise its charge, each LAFCO must conduct municipal service reviews to evaluate the provision of municipal services within each county.
The appointment would be to fill an unexpired term that ends on March 1, 2017. Letters of interest outlining qualifications and reasons for seeking the Alternate Public Member position on the Commission should be submitted to: SBLAFCO, Attn: Paul Hood, Executive Officer,105 East Anapamu Street, Rm 407, Santa Barbara, CA 93101. The filing deadline for submitting letters of interest is 5:00 p.m., June 30, 2015.
