Santa Barbara Child Support serves 13,000 families, collecting and distributing $27 million in parental payments in federal fiscal year 2014. Like all child support programs in the nation, it receives a ranking based on five performance measures: paternities established; support orders obtained; current support collected and distributed; past-due support collected and distributed; and cost effectiveness.
For FFY 2014, Santa Barbara joined the prestigious “California Top Ten” performing counties. Santa Barbara reached its goal of 100% paternity establishment; obtained support orders for 93.5% of its open cases; collected 67.4% of current support funds due; achieved a collection on 71.9% of its cases with an arrearage; and only spent $1 for every $2.90 collected and distributed. This is a great achievement for the Department, which has offices located in Santa Maria (201 South Miller #206) and Santa Barbara (4 E. Carrillo), open Monday through Thursday 7 am – 5 pm.
