SANTA BARBARA, CA. MARCH 16, 2015 – It is with the heaviest of hearts that we come to the Santa Barbara community to ask for your help. Granada Bookstore will be closing if we do not raise enough funds to keep us open and help bridge our operations through financial stability. Granada Books is making a plea to the community to help raise $50,000 to bridge us financially through the end of the year. The link to our fundraising page: http://www.gofundme.com/granadabooks
Granada Books has been a Community Bookstore from the very beginning; starting with community members coming into the store before we opened to help shelve books, to nominating Granada Books for the “Best Small Business” and voting us as a runner up to Chaucer’s Books in the Independent (twice!), to earning a City Proclamation for World Book Night last April. We have proudly been YOUR Community Bookstore, bringing in author events, music, and the love of the written word to Downtown Santa Barbara.
We have numerous upcoming community events we hope to be able to keep, including Bookstore Day in May, Where’s Waldo in July, Poetry Zone every month, along with author signings, music, and story times.
Granada Books: A Community Bookstore has worked very hard to become a gathering place for ideas, inspiration, and most importantly, where you can come in and walk among the books.
From the bottom of our hearts and to the moon and back, we thank you for your support and love and for all possibilities. We love being your community bookstore and hope we can continue providing books for everyone to enjoy for years to come.
