November 3, 2015 – Solvang, CA – Solvang’s annual food and wine – and now, beer and spirits – destination event, Taste of Solvang, will celebrate its 24th year in March 2016. The multi-day event line-up will span March 16 through March 20, 2016, and will include an amplified and updated schedule of offerings geared towards both visitors and locals, encouraging attendees to embark on “…a culinary journey through Solvang, where wine country meets ‘dine country’”. New to Taste of Solvang 2016 are a few ancillary events not previously offered, and revamps of the Friday evening reception and the main Saturday Tasting Trail event.
Presented by the Solvang Conference & Visitors Bureau, this annual Central Coast California foodie festival draws food and wine lovers with its variety of weekend happenings, featuring something for everyone – from farm-to-table, industrialized St. Patrick’s Day cuisine; to New American and modern Danish fare; to sweets in all forms; to award-winning beers, spirits and world-class wines.
Sponsored in part by the City of Solvang and Visit Santa Ynez Valley (VisitSYV), Taste of Solvang 2016 will feature some new aspects while in keeping with the tradition of this annual event. One event component receiving a timely touch-up, is the Saturday food tasting event – now called the “Tasting Trail” – which will focus on the food businesses in Solvang while still encouraging guests to shop at participating Solvang merchants.
Additional highlights of the new Taste of Solvang twists are a broadening of the Friday evening reception, now called “Opening Night: Sip + Savor”, to include Chefs, Bakers, restaurants and fine food establishments presenting their Danish-inspired bites, plus a variety of hand-picked local wineries, and local craft beer and spirits producers – all hailing from anywhere in the Santa Ynez Valley. Taste of Solvang 2016 will also introduce a new Sunday event, “Bubbles, Brews & Brunch”, as well as intimate culinary-related classes on Saturday, including Æbleskiver-making (further class details TBA).
The events team overseeing all things “Taste of Solvang”, Muse Event Design, returns for its second year of Taste of Solvang production. The “Muse Team” for Taste of Solvang is comprised of Amy Carpenter and Patricia Sadeghain, two seasoned and professional event planners, along with three of Solvang’s own: Susan Williams, of Solvang Third Wednesday and Wandering Dog Wine Bar fame; Marisa Yott, owner of the Santa Ynez Valley’s foremost social media firm, Social Buzz SYV; and, Anna Ferguson-Sparks, also a Solvang resident and small business owner, with her own full-service marketing/PR/event planning firm.
