Assemblymember Williams Leaves Capitol Just in Time for Arrival of Newborn Daughter

SACRAMENTO—Assemblymember Das Williams (D – Carpinteria) left the State Capitol in a hurry this morning in order to catch a flight to Santa Barbara, where his wife was preparing to deliver the couple’s first child. Arriving just-in-time, Assemblymember Williams, and wife Jonnie Williams, happily welcomed a healthy baby girl today: Ya’Ash Rene Williams, weighing 7 pounds, 8 ounces. Ya’Ash, means Heaven in Navajo. Her middle name also carries a special meaning, as it was is given in honor of Assemblymember Williams’ grandfather, Rene Dietz, a current resident of Ohai.“>

Dad, Mom, and baby are doing great. They are bonding and enjoying their first hours together as a family.

The past months have included intense preparation by both the Assemblymember and his staff, as they worked to anticipate the baby’s arrival in the midst of the close of the legislative session. Assemblymember Williams will not return to session today, however plans are in place to ensure his bills continue to move forward and without interruption in legislative business.
