NOVEMBER 30, 2016 - The Santa Barbara Foundation hosted an open house on Wednesday, November 30 to celebrate its new regional headquarters located in Santa Maria.
“After decades of engaging and investing in northern Santa Barbara County, this office is the realization of our desire to be physically present and to imbed the foundation into the community and facilitate even more dialogue, learning opportunities and collaboration,” said Ronald V. Gallo, President and CEO of the Santa Barbara Foundation when opening the event.
Over 100 attendees from the nonprofit community, members of the foundation’s Board of Trustees, and civic leaders were there to celebrate. The new office is located at 2625 South Miller Street, Suite 101 in the el Potrero Office Park managed by Charter Brokerage and Investment Company.
“I am proud of the Santa Barbara Foundation because it continually strives to meet its mission, which is to everyday use every tool at our disposal to facilitate the building of philanthropy, strengthen the nonprofit sector, and identify and strategically address important community opportunities and needs,” said Phil Alvarado from the Board of Trustees. “That is what we are all about, why we are here, and why the Santa Barbara Foundation headquarters has a permanent home in North County.”
Santa Barbara Foundation staff gave tours of the facility and answered questions about what the office means for the foundation’s work. A fully staffed North County office enables foundation leadership, community investment officers, development staff, and board members to be more accessible to donors and nonprofits. Overall, these enhancements in service will bring numerous partnership opportunities resulting in more philanthropic capital throughout the region.
“The opening of a regional headquarters in North County by the Santa Barbara Foundation is incredibly exciting for local nonprofits. It further reinforces the foundation’s commitment as a countywide philanthropic organization that not only funds in the North County, but also provides partnership and support to achieve our shared vision and goals,” said Ashley Costa, Executive Director of Lompoc Valley Community Healthcare Organization. “It’s rare to find a funder who understands the nuances of a community like Lompoc, and it’s refreshing to have the steadfast support and trust so close to home.”
