The Women’s Board of Community Arts Music Association of Santa Barbara, Inc (CAMA) has elected Catherine Leffler as President. Ms. Leffler has served on the CAMA Women’s Board since 2004, most recently as treasurer. Ms. Leffler taught in the Education department at UC Santa Barbara, mentoring graduate students toward acquiring a secondary art teaching credential. Prior to coming to Santa Barbara, she worked with the Getty Institute for Education in the Visual Arts in Los Angeles on a research and development program, training teachers to initiate a Discipline Based Art Education program in their classrooms. Ms. Leffler is a graduate of Chatham University in Pittsburgh, PA and received her master’s degree from UCLA. She taught for many years in public school. She has four daughters all residing in California.
CAMA, Santa Barbara’s oldest arts organization, brings the finest classical musicians from around the globe to Santa Barbara’s Granada Theatre and Lobero Theatre. The CAMA Women’s Board has served as a fundraising and friend-raising auxiliary to CAMA since 1951. The money raised by the CAMA Women’s Board provides concert sponsorship to CAMA’s concert series and support for CAMA’s Music Matters, a docent-led music appreciation program in area schools.
