March 1st, 2016 (Santa Barbara, CA) — On Tuesday, March 1, 2016, Santa Barbara based, BigSpeak, the world’s leading speakers bureau, contributed to local Central California Coast Girl Scout Troop 50886. BigSpeak, who represents keynote speakers and visionaries such as Sir Richard Branson, Deepak Chopra, and Barbara Corcoran, bought 500 boxes of the “Thanks-A-Lot” cookie, which the girls branded with BigSpeak’s marketing material to be sent out as tokens of appreciation to BigSpeak’s clientele. The funds will be put towards the troop’s upcoming trip to Dinky Lakes Wilderness Area in the Sierra Nevada National Forest. At Dinky Lakes, the girls will learn survival skills and cultivate their appreciation for the natural world. Troop Leader, Jill Rode said this project was a critical lesson in marketing for the troop, “BigSpeak is helping teach the girls about customer stewardship and the importance of fostering relationships within the community.”

Barrett Corderro, President of BigSpeak, also saw the project as vital lesson in leadership, “BigSpeak sees our investment in the troop 50886 as an investment in the future female leaders of corporate America. Selling Girl Scout Cookies is a great way for these girls to learn the foundations entrepreneurship. We want to support diversity in business leadership and simultaneously encourage a healthy work-life balance by helping the girls with their outdoor educational trips.”

Natalie Mccaffery, was the eldest of the group and led the troop tonight, she was very happy with the large order, “We do a bunch of outdoor stuff, we’ve gone to the islands, kayaking and sea caving. The older girls take on a mentorship role so we’re a very unique troop.”
