National Recovery Month Celebration
Local non-profit celebrates residents in recovery from mental and substance use disorders
SANTA BARBARA – Local nonprofit, Sanctuary Centers of Santa Barbara (SCSB), is proud to host a celebration in honor of National Recovery Month on Friday, September 30 at 11:00am.
Approximately 48,000 Santa Barbara County residents currently suffer from mental illness and substance use disorders. Held at Sanctuary Center’s outpatient building, 1136 De La Vina Street, the event is an opportunity to increase awareness and understanding of mental and substance use disorders, and celebrate the people on the road to recovery. SCSB clients will offer personal accounts of what heals them and will win prizes generously donated by Santa Barbara business owners.
Sponsored by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), organizations throughout the United States host annual Recovery Month celebrations as a way to provide recognition to people with mental and substance use disorders who continue to take the vital steps toward recovery.
