Welcomes New Board Member
To Serve on its Board
The Nature Center is excited to welcome Judy Duncan to its Board of Directors.
Judy became a volunteer at the Nature Center in 2002 when her late husband, Kirby Duncan, joined the board. Kirby was an active force at the Nature Center serving as Vice President on the board and as a leader & chair of the Nature Center’s Trout Derby for 11 years. Judy was right there with him supporting the Center as an active volunteer.
Judy and Kirby were close friends of Neal Taylor before Neal started the Nature Center. They believed in his vision of starting a non-profit educational center where visitors, families and students could come and learn about Cachuma, the Santa Ynez and San Rafael Mountain watersheds. Over the past 14 years Judy has helped with many of the Nature Center’s programs to include the Fish Derbies, Kids Old Fashioned Fishing Day, Kids Fishing workshops, Creepy Creatures, Book and Treasures fundraising sales and Food for Thought lecture series.
Judy shared – “all of us who live in this area are so fortunate to have the Neal Taylor Nature Center with its many programs and activities to engage and educate our children and ourselves about the wonders that surround us”.
Judy brings great experience and a wealth of knowledge to the Nature Center’s board and we are so fortunate to have her serving in this new and important role. In addition to her work at the Nature Center, Judy is also a member of the Assistance League of Santa Barbara and serves as President of The Santa Barbara Downtown Optimist Club.
The Nature Center welcomes Judy Duncan to its Board of Directors and thanks her for her service!
