LOS ANGELES, CA - FEBRUARY 21, 2017 - Women’s March LA Foundation has elected to stand down from our pre-announced Mayday-Flip the House event in support of the May 1st, California-based SEIU USWW sponsored General Worker’s Strike. In awareness of the many wonderful marches now going forth and planned for the future, rather than add another, the Women’s March LA Foundation has decided to join and support the largest service union in the country, the SEIU’s call for a general worker’s strike on the historically important, May 1st.
The organizers of the nation’s largest Women’s March have created the Women’s March LA Foundation to continue the critical effort to highlight the struggles of marginalized communities and assaults on human rights and civil liberties therefore, the Foundation has chosen to support the May Day General Strike

May 1st has been historically recognized as International Worker’s Day since May 1, 1886 as 35,000 workers struck for an 8-hour workday. The California-based SEIU USWW comprised of the hard working men and women janitors, black security officers, baggage handlers, hospital staff, hotel workers, stadium and amusement park workers of are calling for a General Strike on Monday, May 1.
On Monday, May 1, 2017, along with 45,000 members of SEIU USWW, we will strike, because we are the ones who risk losing everything under the current administration. We will strike in solidarity to bring attention to the importance of workers rights.
