At its annual organizational meeting on December 15, the Santa Barbara Community College District Board of Trustees elected Marsha Croninger as President of the board for the 2017 calendar year. Jonathan Abboud was elected as board Vice President.
“While we certainly have challenges, we have a renewed spirit and leadership on the Board and at the College. The year ahead will be a grand opportunity for the college to recommit to its mission related to serving the local community. This will be evident in our work with local high schools related to the SBCC Foundation College Promise and many other new and ongoing initiatives focused on meeting the needs of our community” said President Marsha Croninger.
Croninger joined the Governing Board in December 2010 and represents Area 5 (Mission Canyon and Santa Barbara).
Vice President Jonathan Abboud said, “I’m honored serve the college as Vice President of the Board of Trustees. We’ve made a lot of progress this year and I look forward to continuing the work next year. I’m excited to have a proactive and forward thinking board in the year to come.”
Abboud joined the Governing Board in November 2014 and represents Area 6 (Isla Vista and Santa Barbara).

There is no doubt that President Marsha Croninger and Vice President Jonathan Abboud will continue to provide excellent policy leadership for the Board and the College.”
