The Fund for Santa Barbara has awarded the Beekeepers Guild of Santa Barbara $5000 towards their ‘Plant Bee Friendly’ initiative. The Beekeepers Guild is a non profit organization dedicated to supporting all local pollinators, including the bees, and promotes saving the bees by planting chemical free, drought tolerant, and native plants in and around our local community.
Founded in 2013 in Santa Barbara, this grass roots organization engages local nurseries to encourage appropriate plantings for the bees, butterflies, and other plant and soil beneficials. The financing from this grant will support speaker events, school presentations, and community outreach that will engage backyard gardeners to landscape architects to implement these important factors into the landscapes of our community.
