Barbara’s 2nd Annual Mega Challah Bake Article

What does a Jewish grandmother from Montecito, a UCSB student, a working mom from Goleta, a new Mom from S. Barbara, and a woman with a disability from downtown all have in common? They will all be uniting at the Mega Challah Bake on Thursday, February 9, 2017.

It’s hard to beat the satisfying and wholesome feeling of baking your own bread, especially Challah. Few Jewish foods evoke the same warm sentiments as Challah. Many remember the aroma of freshly baked Challah in their grandmothers’ kitchens, and always on the table for Shabbat dinner with family and friends.

Now imagine that feeling multiplied by 100, because it is shared with over ONE HUNDRED other amazing, strong, powerful Jewish women.

YOU can be one with 120 women from all over S. Barbara, and make challah together as a community.

After last year’s sold out Mega Challah Bake, our committee of Jewish women from all parts of our Jewish community proudly present S. Barbara’s 2nd Mega Challah bake, Thursday, February 9th, 2017, 6:30-8:00pm at the Cabrillo Arts Pavillion, 1118 E. Cabrillo Blvd., S. Barbara, CA 93103.

Unite with women of all ages & from the many cross-sections of the wider Jewish community. Learn the secret power of Challah and discover the beauty of this tradition unique to women.

The challah baking process has always been regarded as a time for spiritual reflection and serves as a reminder to nurture our relationships. Regardless of Jewish knowledge, affiliation or background, women and girls over age 16 are invited to join the Mega Challah Bake.

The program will include a hands-on workshop, teaching participants the secret to great tasting challah which they will then take home to bake and enjoy.

Join thousands of women worldwide who join together each year to bake challah, as part of the global Shabbat Project.

Advance reservations required. Cost: $18/person, sponsorship opportunities available. Reserve your spot at Doors open at 6:15, program begins at 6:30 pm.

This event is a joint project of the SB Jewish Community.
