SANTA BARBARA, California, Mar. 8, 2017 – ShelterBox USA, the U.S.-based affiliate of one of the world’s leading disaster relief and humanitarian aid organizations, announces two new appointments.
Andrew Torgan is a Los Angeles-based, award-winning journalist and communications professional with more than 15 years of experience at CNN who joins ShelterBox USA as Director of Communications.
“I am thrilled to join the ShelterBox team,” said Torgan. “It’s an honor to be a part of such a highly respected and vital organization. ShelterBox sets the global standard in providing emergency shelter and lifesaving equipment to families affected by disaster and conflict.”
Also announced is Lindsey Fry as Senior Foundation and Donor Relations Officer. Fry comes to ShelterBox with nearly a decade of development experience, having most recently served at Direct Relief.
“I’ve heard about the great work of ShelterBox over the years,” said Fry. “I am eager to focus on growing support and building awareness of the organization’s critical role in providing more communities with the essential shelter and tools they need to survive.”
Kerri Murray, President of ShelterBox USA, said, “ShelterBox USA is excited to welcome both Andrew and Lindsey to the team. Andrew’s extensive experience as a news producer and copy editor made him an ideal choice for the organization. Lindsey’s passion for raising awareness of and support for the health and outcomes of vulnerable people will be instrumental as we work to expand the participation of foundation funding. ShelterBox works 365 days a year to provide emergency shelter and lifesaving supplies to families that have lost everything in disaster and crisis situations. As we work to serve more displaced families each year, growing awareness and financial contributions for this work will be critical.”
ShelterBox is currently responding to refugee crises in Cameroon and Niger and the ongoing conflict in Syria and Mosul, Iraq. A large deployment in Haiti following Hurricane Matthew was recently completed. For the latest news, visit ShelterBoxUSA.org.
