It’s time for the County Supervisors to show leadership and courage. You’ve acknowledged the Santa Barbara County Civil Grand Jury reports before and it’s now time to act on their report done in 2006-07, Illegal Immigrants and the Detention System. Grand Jury Finding 1: Immigration holds at the County Main Jail are not always regularly or completely reviewed by ICE [Immigration Control and Enforcement], and such inaction likely results in the release of some immigrants illegally in the county.
Grand Jury Finding 2: The population of immigrants illegally in Santa Barbara County contributes to inmate overcrowding and incarceration costs in county detention facilities.
Ms. Gray, Mr. Centeno, Mr. Carbajal, Ms. Wolf, Mr. Firestone; it’s time to show best interest in the legal, law-abiding citizens. It’s time to stop making excuses and find the will to remove illegal alien criminals.

Also, it is time for County Probation to stop turning a blind eye to convicted felons who return to the US illegally. Not a joke--the County Probation Dept. informs felons that they will not turn them into the Immigration if they return to the US illegally. Your tax dollars at work...

When Mexicans say "Mi casa es su casa," they don't mean it literally. If we let our delinquent kids run all through their home, we wouldn't be invited back. Deportation of criminals would result in a further decrease in criminality among the remaining illegals, due to healthy fear.
Trouble is, our Democratic "representatives" worry about the Hispanic vote, and Republican "representatives" care for business interests.
Full public campaign financing would undercut party loyalties, as candidates wouldn't have to support the pre-existing platforms. And if elected, they wouldn't be beholden to corporations and special interests. Please explain this to your friends! Californians voted against voluntary public campaign financing in 2006, by 3 votes to 1.

Progressive leftists should take note to this letter. If they were smart, they would step up and agree that convicted criminals should be sent back home and that our tax money will not be spent on them.
"Inclusion," "embracing," celebrating" "enfranchising," should come to a screeching halt when a foreigner comes to this country and victimizes its residents.
And that comment about probation must be a lie. There's no way they would do that as law enforcement.

While I admit I don't know enough about public financing to comment, I WILL say that Adonis Tate's other points are ones that hit the nail on the head.
One thing that seemingly all agree on is that Mexico's government is corrupt. While NAFTA may have had negative effects on the Mexican economy, their political/economic system was screwed up long before NAFTA was implemented.
Mexico's government wants to get rid of as many poor people as it can, hence their protesting any curtailment of unlimited/unassimilated immigration. As long as the U.S. keeps rolling out the Red Carpet it is enabling poverty down there.
When all is said and done, it's up to Mexico to fix its problems and if the U.S. government is contributing to this problem then it must be brought to light.
All of this having been said, isn't it ironic that polls show that Americans are overwhelmingly against illegal immigration yet these same voters have created a situation where the top three presidential candidates are loath to take any serious action against our open border policy?...seems a bit schizophrenic to me.
