No one will ever write the truly difficult story of opening a place in Santa Barbara for fear that five bureaucrats will show up asking to inspect one’s computer. That said, The Winehound (1221 Chapala St., 845-5247, thewinehound.com) is at long last open for business and even more impressive than I had hoped. Remember when video stores were the place where the hip hung out and the clerks knew everything and recommended brilliantly with style and wit? Well, Bob Wesley is the Quentin Tarantino of wine-store workers, and he’ll never be responsible for anything abysmal like Four Rooms. He will be responsible for selling you just the right bottle of wine, whether you want to spend ten or tens of ten dollars.

Yippee! More booze-based-businesses!
All alcohol...all the time.
Yep...pound down some of that grog and then get behind the wheel of the ole jacked-up SUV and let 'er rip.
Bottoms-up...bombs away!

Gee. Lighten up Holly. This guy has been the winemeister at Lazy Acres for years and has a nice touch. I don't think you'll find people there 'tosssing them down' before leaving the store.

The store is great, and Bob is very helpful. He never tries to sell you the most expensive bottle of wine, which I appreciate. He is very knowledgeable, and I am happy that he will continue to be a resource for us now that Lazy Acres has sold out to the corporate world.

I should consider myself blessed that I don't have to put booze into my system (which kills brain cells and rots the liver and suppresses healthy inhabitions) in order to enjoy life and the company of others.
How sad that for so many that live in this area that isn't the case.
