Twelve years after bike activists started pushing for a better way to get under the hair-raising Highway 101 overpass on Mission Street, the city is executing a contract with Lash Construction for a striped bike lane and sidewalk improvements to the tune of $2,176,000, which was the lowest of six bids, for a total project cost of $2.9 million.

Bike riders should instead use the much safer West Anapamu, West Micheltorena, or West Junipero Street bridges.
