The cover illustration for your story "No room at the Big House" [Feb. 14] is politically correct to the point of being hilarious. All the arms sticking out between those bars are white, which hardly corresponds with the prison population. Are you really that uninformed or are you afraid your liberal flock will object to an accurate rendition? —Arthur Hansl

Think about this: White artists tend to draw or paint white people, black artists tend to draw or paint black people, and Latino artists tend to illustrate people similar to themselves.
Then again, maybe they were just saving ink.

Multi-colored hands were considered for the illustration, but the story was about prison overcrowding, not how many of them are white, how many are mexican or black ect..
That is another valid story though.
