Chelsea was born and raised in Santa Barbara, brought up listening to her dad’s classic rock music collection and enjoying the beautiful outdoors. Now graduated from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo with her degree in Graphic Communication, she’s happy to be back still doing the same. In college, her passion to explore the world led her to study abroad in Tokyo, Japan where she had her own Lost in Translation experience. Totally captivated in a world bustling with city sights and bizarre amusements, she returned with a new-found affection for Japanese-style karaoke, game shows, hot springs, and of course the food (for which she ditched 21 years of vegetarianism). In addition to loving her job at The Independent, she lives for live music concerts, indulges in breakfast for dinner, and enjoys yoga, film, and fat cats — two of which she has to come home to everyday, along with her high school sweetheart, Dillon.
