What constituted the reduced sentence? A reduction from 6 years to 8 months for assault with intent to commit rape? Wow, I wonder how the victim feels.

It's good to know this guy will be answering for his crimes. A person like that is a danger to the public.

Very good story. It's interesting to know what patrol deputies go through when performing their duties in Isla Vista.

Did they bring out the mounties this year? I know during Halloween they have horses with mounted deputies to monitor the activities.

Good information AZ2SB. It would be interesting to find out the details of the original case. Given that I run a bail bonds business in Santa Barbara, I am always curious about the sentencing a person receives based on the amount of narcotics involved. Although my company guarantees the appearance, we rarely know the verdict of the case unless a client volunteers the information.

The bail amount seems kind of high based on the situation. He does not seem like a huge flight risk from what has been said about his history. It's nice that his family has been working to help him. Not saying he's innocent, but when family is willing to assist his in his situation, it shows some character.

Why is it ludicrous that a gang enhancement was placed on them? This is a motorcycle gang that has been classified as such by the FBI, ATF, and California Attorney General's Office. There's no good reason that they should have been carrying handguns. Good arrest.

It will be interesting to find out more details about this situation. Since the victim isn't cooperating, detectives will have their work cut out.

Perhaps this will be the impetus for getting the funds. The Sheriff has been pushing this new jail since he's been in office. Not sure how it will be sustained long term though. It costs a lot of tax-payer money annually to run a detention center.
