BillClausen: No, you don't understand. The law says that bikes are treated like cars. If you can't go around them without veering headlong into oncoming traffic, you wait until it's safe to pass. I.E.: Bikes are now cars. If it's unsafe to pass in a car without putting yourself in danger, then you don't pass until it's safe. I'm not saying i agree with the law, but that's what it is, and it does NOT put automobile drivers in danger; just into inconvenience.

Mesafan: " I'm so glad we now have the 3-foot bike ruling. It now gives irresponsible bicyclists even more room to ride the wrong way on a one-way street, stop and then go through a full-on red light, talk on their cell phone, ride no-handed and ignore an existing bike lane"...
WHERE in the new 3-foot law does it say that cyclists are now allowed to break ANY of these laws, much less ALL of them?????

contactjohn: Thank you for highlighting my point! The key words are "serious" and "increased". The police saying they are gonna start getting "serious" about certain crimes, and that they'll "increase" enforcing certain crimes... Get it?? All crimes should always be "seriously" enforced, not needing an "increase" in enforcement. Clearly there is a "pick and choose" mentality by our police force as to which laws they choose to uphold. All I'm saying is: All crime should be enforced. These are real issues, I'm not making them up, but thanks for asking!

Because believe me when i say that those guns weren't loaded for protection -- they were loaded to use against anyone who innocently stumbled upon their grow. Right?

loonpt: Looks like they were READY and WILLING to hurt somebody, judging by the loaded guns... Are you saying they shouldn't be punished until they actually DO shoot somebody to death?

My question that isn't addressed in the article: WHO were those guys who were cutting brush? Who were they working for?? Were they just trying to be good samaritans by cutting back the brush along the trail? Anyone know?

"City Hall did not go far enough in making Milpas safe?" Rubbish! Those flashing yellow strobe lights are a huge improvement to the safety of people crossing the street. Yes, pedestrians still need to take a second to make sure that the drivers are going to stop for them, but who can miss those flashing lights? A huge improvement.
