Funny how these "tea-baggers" whine about the Government spending, they have selective amnesia, W was the biggest spender in the country's history....they didn't speak out about spending when Bush was Prez.Lois will win her seat as long as she wishes, she has a great staff that helps constituents with their challenges with dealing with Gov't agencies and she seems to roll with the punches from the far right and left. The only problem I have with her is her inability to speak out strongly against these wars. My daughter spent a year in Iraq, could not figure out why the US is there, and we are all still puzzled about that. The track record that other imperialist countries have had in Afghanistan ought to be a lesson for us...Why didn't we learn the lesson from Vietnam War? We have to stop trying to force our version of democracy on others. When peoples of any nation decide they do not want to be oppressed by their Gov't anymore, they have revolutions, coups, whatever it takes. Bush would not ever accept that he made a mistake by invading Iraq, what is Obama's excuse for not getting out yesterday? There must be some politically connected folks making the big bucks on these wars. Big Business. So sad.

When all this settles we will have a much better health care system in the US. Obama is trying to pass this bill in a bi-partisan fashion; what will probably end up happening is that the democrats will figure out they will get no cooperation from the republicans and they will RAM the bill through congress and Obama will sign the bill. It will contain a strong public option. The right-wing demographic is shrinking, nothing makes me happier! I listened to the choir at church one Sunday sing a song called "They will know we are Christians by our Love" Who can call themselves Christian when they hate so deeply? Jesus would have loved illegal aliens just as much as he loved everyone else.

RE: "Our government eventually does what is right,"
EVENTUALLY is definitely the key word here! Maybe in 20 years there will be a Medicare-type system for everyone. This is Lois' sneaky way of distracting everyone from the core issue: A majority of my constituents want universal single payer healthcare, but I get a lot of campaign contributions from BIG insurance companies; what shall I do? Change the subject. If we stopped wasting billions and billions of dollars on WAR spending we could have the best health insurance system in the world. Let's get our priorities straight, shall we?

There can be no compromise with war; it cannot be reformed or controlled; cannot be disciplined into decency or codified into common sense; for war is the slaughter of human beings, temporarily regarded as enemies, on as large a scale as possible. -Jeannette Rankin

LivinginSB:RE: They're college kids. They're going to drink. And more power to them. College is about learning your limits and when to say when.
I always thought colleges were for getting an education.Turning a blind eye to underage drinking (minor consumption) is not the thing to do.
Denial is not a river in Egypt. We need more education on substance abuse for college students, maybe a required course.
Drunk drivers under the age of 21 are just as dangerous as old fart alcoholics, sometime they take out entire families in drunk driving accidents. But that's okay they were merely learning their limits and when to say when? That is complete BS, in my opinion, of course.

Torture is wrong, McSame flip-flops on his stance on torture.A vote for McCain is voting for more war crimes to be committed with our tax dollars. Mccain = W's third term!My conservative republican friends can't stand Bush or McSame.
Gas prices are hitting all-time highs. Our country is in the midst of a recession thanks in part to our crippling dependence on oil, so what's John McCain's plan? Will he hold the corporate leaders of the energy industry accountable when he addresses them today in Houston? Probably not, considering they are some of his biggest fund-raisers.
The Center for Responsive Politics finds that McCain has accepted over $1 million from the oil and gas industry. Many of McCain's top advisers have lobbied for big oil, which is why he now acts in their best interests, opposing environmental legislation and alternative energy plans. And that's exactly why we want everyone to know The REAL McCain.

jqb wrote: Obama would draw down a brigade per month from Iraq -- that is change.
A brigade is 3,000 soldiers, more or less. With the 160,000 troops in Iraq, it would take him over 4 years, his entire first term, to bring all the soldiers home. Edwards is the only one of the three that is opposed to permanent military bases in Iraq...Hillary is the worst Hawk, maybe she is only talking tough, but has not taken Nuking Iran off the table. Beware the Military Industrial Complex, Eisenhower is spinning in his grave at our choices this election!

The strategy -- if publicly announced plans can be termed a strategy -- follows.
Firstly, the people must understand the process of impeachment. They must be advised that we seek to bring Mr. Bush to trial in the Senate and that the "bringing" process is impeachment. Too many citizens believe that impeachment is the end of the process rather than its beginning.
Secondly, we must thrust upon the members of the House of Representatives -- our employees -- the depth of our feeling and the rightness of our position. The public evidence is so clear that the least educated of their constituents know it, yet our Representatives dawdle in inquiry

Rudy Giuliani exploiting FEAR for power and personal gain!
Franklin Roosevelt's words ring true again today.
And, clarified and amplified, they are just as current now as they were when first he spoke them, 74 years ago.
"We have nothing to fear but fear itself" - and those who would exploit our fear, for power and for their own personal, selfish, cynical, gain.
We actually have nothing to fear but Rudy!
and I mean that in a Loving and Caring way!
