jesscuz my guess is that a deal was cut because the police wanted to get all four for what they did! Just imagine if a deal was not cut all four would be saying through their attorneys that they were just going over to "help him" ...

The jail is long over due but where does Waller get this power from? Only time will tell whether the elected officials will continue to abdicate to her playbook or was that already decided before the elections for key posts in SB?

My understanding is that Vargas has been charged with murder which can be found in either the 1st or 2nd degree. The jury will have options of 1st, 2nd, or a lesser charge of Voluntary Manslaughter. What does 16 stab wounds suggest to you AZ2SB - one through the throat cutting a vein and many to the chest cutting his heart - that Vargas was trying to shake his hand?

The charge is murder. My understanding is that the judge / jury can find either first of second or nothing. Hung bloggers seems more appropriate.

Yes, second post to the guy that is counting. Common, there are only Hispanic gangs in Santa Barbara. If there were Asian gangs, White supremicist gangs, ect, you really don't think the police would do the same, go after those that kill others? This is not a race thing. Some come from bad homes and don't decide to kill. Others, believe that the only way to get "respect" is to take away something from someone else, the most severe consequence of course is one's life. I guess the DA is trying to let Cory Lyons go to, after all, he's white, albeit not in a gang. Again, grow up. Own your own school, aka: be a participant in your own future and not a victim!

It's interesting that this blog is out to get the DA and the Judge. The Grand Jury of Santa Barbara decided Jacob should stand trial for conspiracy to commit murder. Jacob was facing life in prison. Jacob stabbed an unarmed person more than 30 times with three others leaving the man for dead. The DA plea bargained the case, asked the judge to dismiss the conspiracy, and the judge decided the sentence. Does anyone really think that the person stabbed deserved it or that since the victim managed to live that could be a point in Jacob's favor? Jacob received F's and NP according to the judge at his hearing. Jacob had a long criminal history from what I heard in court. Jacob stabbed that man, not the DA, not the judge. Grow up.
