@peterb01312 It's especially sad and shameful when there's a known solution to the problem in Dolphin Pingers! Commercial fishermen have no desire to harm these amazing creatures and Future Oceans and the NZFCF have been working together to reduce Hector and Maui Dolphin bycatch since the 2010 population survey with encouraging results. Despite scientific trials around the globe of our Dolphin Pinger recording a 70-100% reduction in dolphin interactions, we're struggling to get support from the NZ government and scientific community to run similar trials for dwindling Hector's and Maui's populations.
