I for one am happy that the cab drivers in this town are getting knocked down a few pegs.
The taxi drivers in this town tend to be rude nasty jerks who get upset when you want to pay with a credit card or are only going a couple of miles. Uber and Lyft drivers on the other hand have always been pleasant and friendly to me and I've never had any serious problems with them. The one time I did have an issue the company got in touch with me right away to come to a resolution.
The cab companies in this town have grown fat and lazy. Let free market competition sort this out.

These regulations are a huge waste of time and money.
Why not just let the price of water float such that demand doesn't outstrip the supply? Why is it the government's business that I feel like watering my lawn or washing my driveway? If they let the price of water rise to a market rate doing this would be prohibitively expensive and most people would comply on their own. The difference is we wouldn't have a pinko squad of water police to tell us how to live.

As someone who has been wrongly acccused of a crime in the past, I can say that no one likes lawyers until they need one.
If any of you find yourselves on the wrong side of the bars down at county jail you can rest assured that you will want a lawyer who will fight for your interests and guard your rights to the fullest extent possible. This doesn't make anyone an apologist for criminal behavior.
If the state has a case then the district attorney's office will suss that out. Without due process and other protections afforded under the Bill of Rights we might as well shred the constitution whenever public opinion wishes it.
In other words, the mark of a great society isn't how it protects the rights of its citizens when it's popular to do so, but rather how well it affords due process to people like Mr. Moura when the lynch mobs are clamoring for his head.

Isla Vista has pretty much always been this way since it became a student enclave. If you don't like it, don't live there.

I really don't think that the Bar Method creates long bodies. I'm pretty sure they showed up that way.

A citizen's review board would cut things like the Kasi Beutel thing off at the pass by having an impartial body review allegations of police misconduct rather than giving us this media circus. I don't want to tell cops that they can't enforce the laws- I want to tell them that they can't break the law while doing it.
And we already have de facto review boards of our elected officials- they're called elections.
Oh, and I love you too Priceless. Want to go out with me?

You're damn straight I want the people to be the boss. This is a democracy- the cops work for us, not the other way around.

Good riddance. Cam Sanchez is a disgrace and the department is in desperate need of a re-tooling and a citizens review board.
