Kudus to Les - truly a great jazz educator!
A correction: Jeff Peterson at Goleta Valley Junior High School also has a full-time student orchestra. Most of Jeff's orchestra students continue on to the orchestra at DPHS after graduating from GVJHS.

Amen, Barney, and thanks for adding those "for now[s]" to your list - we are not out of the woods on these issues by a long shot, but there is breathing room, and room for the Prez to finally make good on some of his 4-year-old campaign promises. If the Teapublican-infested House keeps pouting and threatening to end the game and take its ball home, Obama should tell them to go fly a kite too, and issue some in-your-face executive orders. We still need to keep his feet to the fire on his Constitution-shredding "national security" policies, immoral/terrorist-recruiting drone executions, talking compromise on social security, medicare etc., and following through on cutting the Pentagon budget. He should get some cover from the increasingly-feminized Senate.
