Well, sure. But aren't we glad the proposed increase in TOT failed? Would have just given the City more money to waste.

Process flawed? You dam betcha it's flawed. We have an MPC and a BoS who are more interested in petty power and taunting the billionaire than they are in the long term benefit to the County. We have a process wherein anyone can pay a few dollars, file a CEQA complaint, and stop the project. Over and over and over....

If, on the other hand, certain people would broaden and lengthen their view, we could gain jobs, tax revenue, a beautiful (presumably - I've seen the plans) resort property with public access. Oh, but gee, some people (50 maybe?) would have to put up with construction noise and dust. Someone who bought a house with no parking will still have no parking? The injustice! Didn't they know there was a rat infested derelict hotel nearby when they bought their property? They should have, and it's not Caruso's fault if they didn't.

The self-absorption of some people around here is truly breathtaking. We can have a beautiful resort with public access. Or we can have rats and rubble. Or a homeless encampment. Grow up, Montecito.

PLEASE get J'Amy Brown out of the process. Her primary interest is delay and ego satisfaction.

Meanwhile, this is not an approval of the project. It is a not-very-sneaky say of adding more requirements without outright disapproval.

@Caruso: build the project as approved in 2011. A thumb in the eye to the objectionista.

Interestingly, after promising to help the middle class and improve access to education, the Liar in Chief today announced his intent to reduce tax breaks directed specifically at parents saving for their childrens' education. In other words, once again he is transferring wealth from those who save and invest to those who don't.

Finally. Boxer was a waste of a perfectly good Senate seat for years. Never sponsored a bill and, other than demanding that she be called "Senator", never did anything noteworthy. Other than being a Democrat from San Francisco, why did she keep getting elected? Anyone other than another knee-jerk liberal would be fine. How about someone thoughtful for a change?

Murillo seems to be against anything that doesn't directly benefit the poor and homeless. The city has other needs, Cathy, and Milpas Association is trying to fill in where the city fails miserably.

"The oil companies can well afford to pay for their pollution. It would likely cost around two cents per gallon. "

The oil companies typically make about 8 cents per gallon (the Feds get nearly 60 cents, CA gets 39 cents plus sales tax), so 2 cents per gallon is about one fourth of their profit. And are you really so naive as to believe that the oil companies will just pay out of their profits? They'll just increase prices, fool.

Uh, no. They weren't invited to town, much less to the stadium.

@loonpt, the NP is only stating the truth - illegal aliens are people from foreign countries who are in this country illegally. You may infer what you want, but the NP isn't propagandizing anything. If you think borders are illegal, then you have no respect for the rule of law any more than the illegals do. And as a descendant of German Jews, I consider you comparison to the Nazis offensive and ludicrous. But I won't graffiti or demonstrate - you have every right to express your opinion.
