Let us not forget that the author of this article, Margaret Connell, is the very same person that was the architect of the revenue neutrality agreement with the County of Santa Barbara.

This is the agreement that Connell and her cronies agreed to that will eventually bankrupt our city. By signing that agreement, Goleta has to share half of its property taxes and 30 percent our sales taxes with the County. This is one of the worst, if not the worst, agreements in the entire State of California! And now Ms. Connell wants to tell us how to house our residents?

On How to House Goleta

This column is full of false and deceptive information.

Bacara is not restricting public access to Haskell’s Beach. The only question is hours of operation. Haskell’s Beach is open from sunrise to sunset, same as Goleta Beach. Now some want Haskell’s Beach open 24 hours a day. Why on Earth would anyone want to be at a beach at 2:00 a.m. or 4:00 a.m.? This is a beach, not a 24 hour diner.

Also, Bacara is not asking the public to foot the bill for any processing costs. This accusation is absolutely ludicrous.

At least this new effort to change our General Plan was created in an open public process, where everyone can have their say.

When Ms. Connell drafted the last version, the City Council served also as the Planning Commission and the General Plan board, totally shutting the community out of the process and creating a General Plan behind closed doors without a citizen’s advisory group like every other city.
