goletaobserver...why don't you come to my house and try and cross the crosswalk in front of my home on Cathedral Oaks? I wait every morning for the traffic to stop while I try and cross my 13 year old across that crosswalk. I stand out in the crosswalk not on the curb and no one stops. I have to wave my arms to make them stop. To compound the problem, traffic is flowing 20 miles above the speed limit (limit is 25 in front of schools when children are present) and there have been two rear end accidents from a vehicle stopping for us and another following too close or speeding. I have repeatedly called the Goleta Sheriffs and not once have they come and sit in my driveway and observe. I know all the motorcycle cops by name (they use my driveway ). They say they have a shortage of police and have been focusing on Brandon school. To top off my comment...City of Goleta has failed to repair or replace the speed flashing sign at Windsor and Cathedral Oaks that has been non operational for over 6 months. As a person who had a drunk homeless person cross our paths on the Northbound 101 and was struck and killed...it is the worse feeling in the world to hit and kill a pedestrian. Take it from me. PLEASE SLOW DOWN AND OBSERVE PEDESTRIANS WHETHER IN A CROSSWALK OR NOT. IT'S THE LAW!!!!

Wow so much negativity here. Maybe one of you yahoos that posted here could run and do a better job?? Sure there have been mistakes made along the way, monies wasted and we have had a regurgitation of council members, but let me remind you voting counsel members out has always been an option that Santa Barbara residents seem to not exercise. Get out and vote! Stop rubber stamping! We have a say if we speak loudly!!!

Henry I take offense to your post that ALL insurance agents are bilking customers. I have been a life health agent for 10 years and I can say that I have NEVER bilked or flipped business. Most agents DO the right thing!!!

Funny how they report that *82 doesnt work with reverse 911 for the county. I live in the GAP fire area and received nightly reverse 911 calls from the City of Goleta and I have *82 in place on my landline. Hmmm. Maybe Santa Barbara County needs to take a lesson from our newer city?

The lemon and avocado groves buffered us Goletans from the GAP fire. I live below the Franklins and Bottiani's groves in the residential area and were relieved when we spoke to them the first night that the trees were very wet when the fire broke out. This agricultural buffer is essential to our community. All the more reason to not build in our foothills and replace these agricultural barriers!

Good luck Chris! You are an asset to our community! And I personally thank you for your 4 years as our Goleta chief.

Oh goody...I voted for Jonny Wallis' ousting several years ago and now she is back in? This woman is horrible for the city of Goleta.
